Cashier Instructor

Job Summary:
Missouri Organic Recycling is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Cashier Instructor to join our team. This role is vital to ensuring our cashiers are proficient in using the point-of-sale (POS) system and excel in handling transactions accurately and efficiently. The Cashier Instructor will work closely with the accounting department to identify and address transaction errors, continuously refine the training program, and provide operational support by filling in for cashiers when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Development:
- Train new and current cashiers on the POS system, cash handling, and transaction procedures.
- Ensure cashiers understand refund protocols, transaction accuracy, and efficient payment processing.
- Develop, update, and distribute training materials aligned with current business practices.
Collaboration with Accounting:
- Partner with the accounting department to monitor cashier performance and error rates.
- Adapt training methods based on accounting feedback to improve transaction accuracy and reduce errors.
Operational Support:
- Cover cashier shifts as needed to support operations during absences, such as time off or sick leave.
- Assist with cashier duties, including transaction processing, customer inquiries, and maintaining organized checkout areas.
Program Adjustment and Improvement:
- Regularly review the training program’s effectiveness and adjust based on performance trends and feedback.
- Update training materials and methods to align with changes in business policies, needs, or systems.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Reinforce customer service best practices in training sessions.
- Ensure cashiers are equipped to handle various customer interactions professionally and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); coursework in retail, business, or training (preferred).
- Experience as a cashier with strong proficiency in POS systems and cash handling.
- Prior experience in training, mentoring, or a supervisory role (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors quickly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability in training methods and materials based on feedback and evolving business needs.
- Flexibility to fill in for cashier shifts and assist with daily operations as required.
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility to travel between locations as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts or training sessions.
- Occasional lifting of training materials or equipment may be required.
